SUMMARY:King Kyote / The Animeros @ Wonder Bar for Asbury Jams / North 2 Shore
DESCRIPTION:King Kyote Bio: \nHarken to a night of whiskey drinking in a cabin among the pines\, King Kyote echoes the yells of Rock & Roll’s fore-bearers while having a deeply rooted harmony with the Blues\, Roots-Rock & Indie-Americana genres. A force to be reckoned with on stage\, Kyote’s fiery live shows prove that pure raw talent combined with real\, honest songwriting is still the future of today’s music. \nHailing from the Maine coast\, King Kyote’s sound and inspiration comes from how he views and interprets the world around him. He expresses himself through a unique lens—like a photograph\, putting pen to paper captures life’s most delicate moments. The ability to draw creative power from the waves he rides and mountains he climbs gives Kyote a distinct perspective on the intertwines of the vagabond troubadour and the artist. \nOver the last five years\, King Kyote has firmly established himself as a standout artist\, garnering attention as one of the prominent figures to keep an eye on in the northeast. Kyote represented his home state of Maine on NBC’s American Song Contest with his song “Get Out Alive” which was released on Atlantic Records in March of 2022. King Kyote has shared stages with legendary artists\, including Taj Mahal\, Molly Tuttle & The Golden Highway\, Houndmouth\, and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. \n“I like the way he holds his own\, his vocal tone and his penmanship”- Snoop Dogg \nKing Kyote is gearing up for an extraordinary 2026 after building his reputation around one of the most engaging and powerful live shows in Americana music right now. \n\n\n\n\nThe Animeros \n\n\nWith musical notes that span well beyond genres like bolero\, psychedelic\, and cumbia\, The Animeros not only make their audience hit the dance floor\, but they also invite their listeners and tastemakers alike to a glimpse of their rich cultural upbringing. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe group who is made up of Nick Tozzo (drummer and percussionist)\, Nicolas Sanchez (bassist)\, and Mauro Lopez (guitarist) craft a genre-blending sound that drifts between the lush jungles of Colombia\, the palm-lined streets of 1960s coastal Mexico\, and the dusty cantinas of West Texas. \n\n\n\n\n\nSanchez’s Colombian roots\, growing up listening to his parents’ beloved salsa and cumbia; Lopez’s parents’ Mexican and American discography\, which spanned from traditional Tejano to improvised jazz; and Tozzo’s love for jazz and salsa music\, the latter stemming from his college years\, leading him to study and live in Colombia to experience music greats first-handedly. All of this\, paired with their undeniable chemistry and meshed with their now hometown Austin’s innovative creative sounds has led them to create the unique sonic movement that is The Animeros\, a name inspired by Colombian shamans who would usher lost souls to their peace. \n\n\n\n\n\nTheir journey took an unexpected turn when their music reached the ears of Dan Auerbach\, the Grammy Award winning producer\, songwriter\, and frontman of The Black Keys. Auerbach first heard them by chance\, music floating from an open hotel window that stopped him in his tracks. Captivated\, he made a note to track them down\, and within a year\, that chance encounter led to something bigger. Now signed to Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label\, The Animeros are preparing to release their debut album next year\, produced exclusively by Auerbach himself. \n\n\n\n\n\n“I feel like it’s only a matter of time for these guys and for the music that they play. All they have to do is be themselves\,” Auerbach said about the trio. “They’re playing the kind of music that they can play forever until they’re 100 years old because it’s rooted in history\, but it’s very much in the present.” \n\n\n\n\n\n“When we first talked\, one of the things was our love for the nuance in Latin music\,” Lopez shared. “That’s what initially drew ourselves to each other… That’s like a language among musicians.” Tozzo also talked about their shared musical bond: “What makes our chemistry special is that even if one of us has just a glimpse of an idea\, together we can take that and really create something out of it.” “That encyclopedia of [music] knowledge everyone brings…That’s what’s really appealing about this project. It’s not just surface level. Everybody’s going pretty deep on it\,” Sanchez added. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Animeros are on the cusp of reaching new audiences all over the globe. More singles are coming with a new album on the way in 2026 via Easy Eye Sound. \n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://theanimeros.com/ \n\n\nhttps://www.instagram.com/theanimeros/ \n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/theanimeros

SUMMARY:Sqwerv at Asbury Jams
DESCRIPTION:Sqwerv’s roots run deep in the Denver music scene. Those roots began to take hold as the band started hosting local open jams and playing gigs at small bars and venues in 2017. Since then\, Sqwerv has become a staple in Denver’s music scene with bands like Magic Beans\, Squeaky Feet\, Eminence Ensemble and Rado. \nThis four-piece Indie-Psych Rock band’s love for classic rock\, psychedelic music and improvisation creates a sound that is refreshingly original and exciting. Sqwerv realizes the importance of good songwriting and is always pushing themselves in the improvisation. The band spends a great deal of time writing lyrics\, composing\, and developing song structure that has grown into a catalogue that ranges from twelve minute prog songs inspired by Homer’s Odyssey to two minute psych songs about love. They are fiercely driven to get to those transcendent\, improvised spaces that all jam-music lovers crave. Sqwerv continues to deliver to their audiences through groove\, counterpoint\, polyrhythms and risk taking. \nIn the last two years the band has released two studio albums\, three live albums and completed two national tours with no plans on stopping. They have had the opportunity to open for acts like Lespecial\, Spafford\, Eggy and Big Something. They hold themselves to a rigorous tour schedule playing unique shows for their fans on a regular basis. Sqwerv leans into the dark and the beautiful while thriving off of the sounds they create and connections they make.

SUMMARY:Sqwerv at Asbury Jams
DESCRIPTION:Some music cannot be found on a map or within iTunes categories.  Some music is so original it seems snatched from the great\, invisible substrata that runs below all human activity\, a sound aching to be born without a flag or fixed allegiance – free\, questing\, overflowing with immediate\, tangible life.  This is the music of Toubab Krewe\, the vibrant instrumental powerhouse that creates a sonic Pangaea that lustily swirls together rock\, African traditions\, jam sensibilities\, international folk strains and more.  While nearly impossible to put into any box\, it takes only a few moments to realize in a very palpable way that one is face-to-face with a true original who recognizes no borders in a march towards a muscular\, original\, globally switched-on sound. \nFormed in 2005\, Toubab Krewe has tenaciously honed their craft through relentless touring and a fierce dedication to carving out something they can truly call their own.  The fruits of this hard work can be heard on their latest release\, STYLO\, (March 2nd\, 2018).  What Justin Perkins (Kora\, Kamelngoni\, guitar\, percussion)\, Terrence Houston (drumset)\, Drew Heller (guitar\, organ)\, Justin Kimmel (bass\, keys)\, and Luke Quaranta (Djembe\, Congas\, Dundun\, Sangban\, Kinkini) have wrought on STYLO reflects the many miles and musical journeys that have transpired since their last studio album\, TK2. \nThis is a band that actively draws inspiration from whatever source floats into their purview\, something they’ve exhibited in their decade and a half of heavy gigging\, including regular appearances at major U.S. festivals like Bonnaroo\, High Sierra\, Rothbury and Wakarusa\, and abroad at such legendary gatherings as the Festival In The Desert in Essakane\, Mali. Whether on their own or collaborating with luminaries like the Last Poets’ Umar Bin Hassan or Uncle Earl’s Rayna Gellert\, Toubab Krewe has already earned the attention and respect of a broad musical community. \nToubab carries echoes of African greats like Ali Farka Toure\, Orchestra Baobab and Salif Keita\, no doubt picked up during the group’s travels to study and live in Guinea\, Ivory Coast and Mali.  But what truly differentiates Toubab Krewe from other Statesiders inspired by African music is how they innovate on what they’ve learned instead of simply recreating tradition. Toubab Krewe carves out a new trail honoring the African originators they admire by making something alive and contemporary.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Lettuce on the beach in Seaside Heights
DESCRIPTION:The album\, Cook\, isn’t just a nod to Lettuce’s musical heat; it’s an invitation to join the band at the table\, where funk\, soul\, jazz\, rock\, and hip-hop come together in one rich\, flavorful dish. \nFor these six life-long partners: Adam Deitch (drums)\, Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (guitar)\, Erick “Maverick” Coomes (bass)\, Ryan “Zoid” Zoidis (saxophones\, synths)\, Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet)\, and Nigel Hall (vocals\, keyboards)\, Cook marks a bold expansion of their ever-widening musical palette. Released on their own Lettuce Records label\, the album arrives on the heels of tours with rap icon GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and reggae legend Ziggy Marley\, as well as the release of their live album and concert film Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony. Still\, there’s a generous dose of Lettuce’s signature funk throughout paying homage to James Brown and the JB’s while honoring longtime mentors like Tower of Power and Maceo Parker. \nMore than just a figurative title\, Cook debuts alongside Lettuce Red Crush and Orange Crush wines in collaboration with Aquila Cellars\, plus a limited-edition recipe book of pairings included with the vinyl and digital release. \nWith Cook\, the band feels like their concepts and ideas can come to fruition with an innovative team and devout fan base behind them—they’re in a fresh new headspace ready to savor a new chapter. \n\nArtist website/socials: https://www.lettucefunk.com/

SUMMARY:The Skatalites at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:with special guest Lady Hatchet Quartet \n2025 marks over 60 years of the original and unparalleled ska with The Skatalites! The original\nmembers played on hundreds of recording sessions before forming the band in 1964. Backing\nmost of the vocalists in Jamaica at that time\, including Bob Marley\, Toots and The Maytals\,\nJimmy Cliff\, Alton Ellis\, Ken Boothe and many more The Skatalites secured their place in history\nearly on. After disbanding in 1965 the individual members continued playing in various groups\nas the music evolved from ska to rocksteady to reggae.\n\nIn the late 70’s a resurgence of interest in the music began in the U.K. which caused the\ncreation of many bands such as The Specials\, The English Beat\, Madness\, The Selecter and Bad\nManners. This became known as the “Two-Tone era” and these British musicians fused rock\nmusic with the ska and reggae. In The early 80’s the music started to spread to the U.S.A and\nother parts of the world. Bands began to emerge all over the globe playing different flavors of\nska and reggae fused with whatever else they wanted to throw in\, including hard core\, jazz\nand even punk.\n\nIn 1983 The Skatalites reunited to play Reggae Sunsplash in Montego Bay and subsequently in\nLondon at The Crystal Palace for the U.K version of the Sunsplash event. A few years later they\nbegan emigrating to the U.S.A and in 1986 the first US shows began at The Village Gate in NYC.\nThe band supported Bunny Wailer on The Liberation Tour in 1989 and followed it up in 1990\nembarking on their first-ever headline tour of The U.S.A. The Skatalites have not stopped\ntouring the world ever since and continue to be available for festivals\, casinos\, and intimate\nvenue settings. Their uniquely infectious brand of real\, authentic Jamaican ska excites\naudiences of all ages across the globe year after year.\n\n“We hope you will enjoy listening to our music as much as we enjoy performing it for you.”

SUMMARY:God Street Wine at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:ElmThree presents God Street Wine.  After almost a decade apart\, GSW reunited privately in 2009 to honor the passing of an old friend and a year later played four concerts in NYC benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Infrequent but memorable gatherings continued at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios\, Sweetwater Music Hall\, rambles with Phil Lesh at Terrapin Crossroads and Jam Cruise. In 2013 they released a 25th anniversary box set retrospective and the documentary filmAll The Way To Here. Several years later the band ‑ now spread out across the globe in New York\, New Orleans and Berlin ‑ started collaborating on new studio tracks which led to eight new single releases in 2017-18 and the full length album This Fine Town in 2019. \nAfter eight shows in summer 2019\, other projects and commitments brought the band to another hiatus – a break that ended up longer than expected due to the Covid pandemic. After four years apart\, GSW got together again in 2023 with two New York area shows to benefit MS4MS (Mission Stadiums for Multiple Sclerosis). \n2024 brings more activity for GSW! On top of marking the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1st major label release\, $1.99 Romances\, and digitally releasing the long-lost Hot Sweet & Juicy\, the band is also releasing 3 albums from their catalog (Bag\, $1.99 Romances\, Hot Sweet & Juicy) on vinyl for the first time. This will all culminate with the original fivesome performing together again with four New York area shows!

SUMMARY:Jammy Buffet w/ The Tisburys at Asbury Jams
DESCRIPTION:Jimmy Buffett often spoke of “traveling the songlines\,” a phrase borrowed from the Aboriginal tradition of mapping the land through music and story—paths that connect people\, places\, and moments across time. \nJammy Buffet picks up that journey\, where Buffett’s coastal storytelling meets the improvisational spirit of the jam band world. \nLed by singer-songwriter Bob Barrick\, with key contributions from Brendan Mayer (son of longtime Coral Reefer Peter Mayer)\, bassist Andrew Cooney\, drummer Tyler Gwynn\, and multi-instrumentalist Mickey Lenny this Colorado–Tennessee outfit breathes new life into Buffett’s timeless “Gulf & Western” sound. \nTheir live shows offer something for everyone: greatest-hit singalongs for casual fans\, deep cuts for the diehard Parrotheads\, and cosmic\, exploratory jams for those along for the ride. Expect sun-soaked grooves\, surprise segues\, and barefoot boogie energy from start to finish. \nWith collaborations featuring original Coral Reefers Roger Bartlett and Peter Mayer\, Jammy Buffet is quickly making waves in the Gulf & Western world—bringing fresh musicianship and modern jam sensibilities to Buffett’s storied catalog.

SUMMARY:The Heavy Heavy at Wonder Bar w/s/g MT Jones
DESCRIPTION:ElmThree presents The Heavy Heavy w/s/g MT Jones\nWith the arrival of their debut EP Life and Life Only\, The Heavy Heavy immediately filled a longtime void in the musical landscape\, delivering a soulful breed of rock & roll untouched by modern artifice. As audiences across the globe grew enchanted with their era-bending sound\, the UK-based band began selling out headline shows in major cities like New York and Chicago\, opening for the likes of Black Pumas and Band of Horses\, and earning critical comparisons to Jefferson Airplane\, The Band\, The Mamas & The Papas\, and more—all with only a handful of songs to their name\, including the AAA radio top five singles “Miles and Miles” and “Go Down River.” After spending the past two years on the road and in the studio\, The Heavy Heavy now draw listeners even deeper into their dreamworld with their long-awaited debut album One Of A Kind. \nWritten entirely by co-founders Georgie Fuller and William Turner and mostly recorded at Turner’s studio in Brighton\, One Of A Kind maintains the self-contained approach of Life and Life Only—a seven-song project acclaimed by outlets like NME (who named them an essential emerging artist for 2023) and The Guardian (who noted that The Heavy Heavy “write and play music with that lick of madness that makes early Fleetwood Mac and peak Stones so thrilling”). To that end\, Turner produced\, engineered\, and mixed every track and handled most of the LP’s lavish instrumentation (including guitar\, bass\, piano\, organ\, Mellotron\, and more)\, with The Heavy Heavy’s live band lending their explosive energy to the album. But in a departure from the EP\, One Of A Kind leans away from Laurel Canyon-esque folk-rock and fully embraces their British roots\, finding a particularly crucial inspiration in the gritty and groove-heavy hedonism of the Rolling Stones’ Goats Head Soup. “A lot of our EP was very bright and pretty\, so we wanted to smash the door down like we do in the live show\,” says Turner. “Because we were creating an entire album\, there was so much more space to explore and expand\,” Fuller adds. “It’s still undoubtedly that Heavy Heavy sound\, but now we have all these other rooms to play around in.” \nFor One Of A Kind’s lead single\, The Heavy Heavy chose a sun-drenched and sing-along-ready number that serves as an auspicious bridge to the band’s new era. The last song written for the album\, “Happiness” bends toward the lush psych-pop of Life and Life Only while introducing a new level of visceral intensity. “We felt we needed a song that had that summery\, flowery feel of the EP\, and somehow at the last minute we were able to pull magic out of thin air\,” Fuller recalls. A fast fan favorite at their live shows\, “Happiness” channels a bold determination to break free from loneliness and stagnation\, ultimately providing an automatic mood lift thanks to The Heavy Heavy’s resplendent melodies and signature multi-part harmonies. \nKicking off with a majestic bang\, One Of A Kind opens on the rolling drumbeats and walloping riffs of its title track—a feverishly chanted anthem whose lyrics transform the listener into the protagonist of their own impossibly glamorous movie (e.g.\, “You’re getting down/You’re keeping on/You look the best/You’re all night howling”). Graced with a breathtaking vocal performance from Fuller (a classically trained singer)\, “One Of A Kind” quickly set the tone for the album’s larger-than-life vitality. “Something about the primal nature of that song inspired us to keep making songs that feel quite big and powerful\,” says Turner. Later\, on “Because You’re Mine\,” The Heavy Heavy sustain that feel-good spirit and share a carefree love song lit up in slinky grooves and hallucinatory lyrics depicting what Fuller refers to as “the psychedelic daydream of a wandering nomad type—someone who goes wherever the wind takes them.” \nAs One Of A Kind floats along\, The Heavy Heavy endlessly push into previously uncharted sonic terrain\, tapping into such unexpected influences as mid-’90s big beat on the bass-driven and gorgeously hazy “Miracle Sun.” “It’s a song with a lot of attitude to it—sort of our way of telling the world\, ‘We’re living the way we want to live\, and it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand\,’” says Turner. Meanwhile\, on “Feel\,” the band merges the mesmerizing grooves of Madchester-era Britpop with a bit of idiosyncratic poetry (“I am a freeloader love junkie/A real heavy cannonball and I’m hungry…I stand between the sun\, between the stone/I feel it in my fingers\, feel it in my bones”). And on “Wild Emotion\,” One Of A Kind offers up a country-infused serenade laced with galloping rhythms and twangy guitar tones partly inspired by the work of Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler. “That’s probably the most emotional song on the album\,” Turner points out. “It’s meant to have a reassuring message\, but at its center is the story of a woman who’s gone through a heartbreak and can’t find her way out of feeling hopeless and distraught.” \nAfter journeying through a whirlwind of sounds and textures—the hypnotic Mellotron of “Lemonade\,” the frenetic psych-rock organ and skyscraping vocals of “Dirt\,” the earthy acoustic guitar and sweetly playful harmonies of “Lovestruck”—One Of A Kind lands at the reverb-soaked splendor of its closing track\, “Salina.” Named for a sparsely populated volcanic island off the coast of Sicily (an otherworldly spot Fuller and Turner visited on vacation)\, the slow-building epic unfolds in so many exquisitely strange sonic details: moody cello lines\, thundering percussion\, a spellbinding pedal-steel part simultaneously played by two separate guest musicians. “‘Salina’ was one of those moments where we let ourselves get experimental with the production and create a whole ocean of sound\,” says Fuller. “We knew we had to put it at the end and let the reverb ring out in those final seconds—almost as if we’re leaving the album hanging in the air.” \nFormed in 2019\, The Heavy Heavy emerged from a potent alchemy of their eclectic sensibilities. Hailing from the small town of Malvern (a stretch of the English countryside he describes as “a beautiful place full of hippies and longhaired people”)\, Turner took up guitar in his early teens and later played in a series of psychedelic/surf-rock bands\, while Fuller’s extensive background includes performing at Montreux Jazz Festival as a teenager and acting in the London theater. As they moved forward with a mission of “making music that sounds like our favorite records ever” (including everything from Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac to folk-blues act Delaney & Bonnie to Fleet Foxes)\, the duo dreamed up a batch of songs in a London flat and self-released an early version of Life and Life Only in late 2020\, eventually catching the attention of ATO Records and signing with the U.S.-based label in 2022. Fueled in part by the breakout success of “Miles and Miles” (their ATO debut single)\, The Heavy Heavy’s five-piece live band soon began playing bigger and bigger venues and taking the stage at leading festivals like Bonnaroo\, Boston Calling\, and Newport Folk Festival\, in addition to performing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!\,” “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert\,” and “CBS Saturday Morning” and scoring major syncs with the likes of Nissan and Netflix’s “Outer Banks.” \nBecause of the rapturous response to their debut EP\, The Heavy Heavy found themselves in an unfamiliar headspace when it came to the creation of One Of A Kind. “With the EP we were making songs as a way to soundtrack our own lives\, but now it’s a different beast—it’s no longer theoretical\, which gives everything more weight\,” says Turner. But in the end\, the band discovered an essential touchstone in the connection they’ve forged with their fans over the last two years. “Not too long ago\, a woman came up to us at a show and told us she was getting a tattoo of one of our lyrics to remind herself to keep pushing on and keep chasing her dreams\,” Fuller says. “Moments like that always remind us that as long as we keep making what feels good\, chances are it’s going to make other people feel good too. I hope this album feels like a great big party to everyone\, and I hope it inspires them to live their lives however they want.”

SUMMARY:Black Joe Lewis at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:Black Joe Lewis\, he started laying concrete to help support his baby mama and his kid.  When Joe and his band\, the Honeybears\, popped onto the national stage over a decade ago\, many critics embraced him but still\, there were some that maintained that they hadn’t paid their dues. Joe’s still here. Still going. Still cashing checks and snapping necks. The dues of hard work; the delirious heights of the industry as well as the disappointments and low hanging fruit. Through this all\, Joe’s only honed his mastery over gut bucket blues guitar and his true voice. It’s a vital and distinctly American voice that never anticipated the attention he wound up receiving\, never went looking for it either. It just started happening. The garage\, the blues\, the propulsive and synergistic live performances that inhabit the spaces of James Brown\, Lightnin’ Hopkins\, and the MC5…those things happened naturally from the very beginning and could only be accurately communicated in the live experience\, not a press release or a slick brand campaign. Sharon Jones\, Charles Bradley\, Cedric Burnside and Lightnin Malcolm\, The Dirtbombs\, Detroit Cobras\, the Strange Boys; these are some of the artists that Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears shared countless bills with; almost a roll call of the most influential soul and garage bands of the last twenty-five years. Has the soul blues garage explosion from that era been commodified or worked into the overall template of pop rock? Sure. But the ground floor was a vital space for people that like guitars and grease and at this point Black Joe Lewis is one of the last standing that was there. Last of a dying breed. Or maybe a missing link. Does this make him a throwback? A throwback to a throwback? It’d be tempting and easy for Joe to go along with that but nah\, we don’t think so. We know that Joe Lewis is genuinely doing his thing and that he’d do it regardless of what’s coming down the pipe. A stone cold original and a veteran at that. If you like whistling in your music and some floppy hat\, quaky kneed dudes cloyingly singing at you\, then you might not “get it” but whatever…there are enough intrepid\, degenerate weirdos that do. Those are the folks Joe cares about. Not the glad-handing set. Not the fair-weather friend set getting down with the flavor of the month. Like the title of his last album says\, “the difference between me and you” is Joe defining for himself that there’s the belabored wannabes and then there’s dudes that actually “HAVE the blues”…whatever the hell THAT is! Joe’s concrete pouring boss is gonna miss him.

Since his first album\, ‘Blackwater’\, back in 2001\, Grey has been releasing deeply moving\, masterfully written\, funkified rock and front porch Southern soul music. \n\nNow\, with ‘Olustee’ – his tenth album and first in eight years\, and the first he has self-produced – Grey is back\, singing his personal stories with universal themes of redemption\, rebirth\, hard luck\, and inner peace. With his music\, Grey also celebrates good times with friends\, oftentimes mixing the carnal with the cerebral in the very same song. Fueled by his vividly detailed\, timeless original songs spun from his life experiences\, Grey’s gritty baritone drips with honest passion and testifies with a preacher’s foot-pounding fervor. \nWith ‘Olustee’\, JJ Grey has once again pushed the boundaries of his own creative musical\, lyrical and vocal talents\, delivering an instant classic. Many of the songs are steeped in the mythical Southern stories of his ancestral Florida home and filled with people from JJ’s life. The songs are told through the eyes of a poet and sung with pure\, unvarnished soul. Grey’s message is simple and strong – respect the natural world and always try to live in the moment. And never forget the importance of having a good time!

SUMMARY:Neal Francis at Wonder Bar (Asbury Jams)
DESCRIPTION:Neal Francis w/s/g Pearl Charles \nNEAL FRANCIS – RETURN TO ZERO \nThe latest album from Neal Francis\, Return To Zero\, emerged from the kind of visionary fever dream that only the most masterful and inventive artists are capable of bringing to life. Amid a grueling tour schedule that found him playing nearly 400 shows from 2021 to 2024\, the Chicago-based singer/songwriter/pianist immersed himself in creating a beautifully strange entangling of timeless rock & roll and ’70s-era dance music\, merging supremely heavy guitar riffs with lush and pulsating grooves—all constructed sans digital programming\, in keeping with his devotion to all things analog. Worlds away from the glitzy fantasia of archetypal disco\, Return To Zero inhabits a far moodier atmosphere and ultimately makes for the most thrilling manifestation of Francis’ peerless musicality yet. \nEqual parts heady and hedonistic\, pensive and euphoric\, Francis’ third studio LP echoes both his deep-rooted psych-rock sensibilities and a lifelong affinity for classic funk. “I’ve always been intrigued by music that toes the line between funk and rock\,” notes Francis. “In the past I’ve asked myself things like\, ‘What would it sound like if Thin Lizzy cut a disco record?’ It’s something I’ve been fascinated with for a very long time\, so I finally decided to really go for it.” \nThe follow-up to his 2023 double live album and concert film Francis Comes Alive\, Return To Zero marks Francis’ first full-length studio effort since In Plain Sight—a 2021 release acclaimed by the likes of leading rock critic Steven Hyden\, who praised its “throwback big-band sound that recalls the highs of 1970s funk and swamp rock.” With his past work also including his 2019 debut album Changes (hailed as “the reincarnation of Allen Toussaint” by BBC Radio 6)\, Francis began playing piano at the young age of four and became an in-demand sideman while still a teenager\, touring with revered blues artists and beloved instrumental band The Heard before embarking on his solo career. Over the years\, he’s sold out headline shows all across the globe\, supported the likes of Wilco\, Black Pumas\, and My Morning Jacket\, appeared at major festivals such as Bonnaroo\, Fuji Rock\,  and Lollapalooza\, and even performed at historic venues like Carnegie Hall. \nLike all of his studio work so far (including his 2022 EP Sentimental Garbage)\, Return To Zero finds Francis co-producing alongside his frequent collaborator Sergio Rios and recording live with members of his touring band (drummer Collin O’Brien\, bassist Mike Starr\, guitarist Kellen Boersma)\, elegantly showcasing his prodigious talent and dazzling originality as a keyboard player. Mainly created at Rios’ L.A. studio\, the album’s grandiose yet warmly inviting sound also took shape from his close collaboration with composer/conductor Dom Frigo (who aided Francis by transcribing the LP’s symphonic string sections)\, Say She She (a Brooklyn-based psychedelic-soul trio who adorn a number of songs with their beguiling backing vocals)\, and a stacked lineup of co-writers that includes Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman and Wild Belle co-founder Elliot Bergman. \nIn the making of his most ambitious work to date\, Francis faced countless moments of creative frustration—a factor that eventually gave the album its title. “I was cutting a lot of the vocals at home\, using a hybrid process where I’d bounce the tracks from my computer to a tape machine and then record the vocals to tape\,” he explains. “I’d be in my vocal booth in the closet with all our winter coats\, and every time I needed to start over I’d press this button that says ‘RTZ\,’ which stands for ‘Return To Zero.’ I was doing take after take and pressing that button over and over—it was a huge pain\, but it also linked up with what I’ve learned in my meditation practice: no matter how frustrated you get\, just remain calm and take inventory\, and then begin again.” \nAlthough executing Return To Zero’s highly elaborate arrangements often involved a very time-intensive trial-and-error approach\, the album-opening “Need You Again” surfaced from an immediate burst of inspiration after Francis attended a DJ set by Derrick Carter (a Chicago house legend who created a 12-inch remix of “BNYLV” from In Plain Sight). “My girlfriend and I went out to a queer dance party called Queen! and stayed till about four in the morning\, and Derrick played a track that was a big rock riff over a funk beat\,” he recalls. “The next day I went into the studio on very little sleep and started working on the demo for ‘Need You Again\,’ and after I finished I couldn’t stop listening to it.” Featuring a guest spot from Grammy-winning guitarist Eric Krasno (Soulive\, Lettuce)\, the result is a glorious entry point into the album’s groove-heavy soundscape\, unfolding in sinewy riffs and larger-than-life rhythms as Francis narrates a tale of ruinous infatuation. “It’s a song about a love affair\, and the experience of projecting magical qualities onto another person and feeling almost addicted or beholden to them\,” he reveals. \nAnother charmed moment in the album’s creation\, “Broken Glass” was sparked from a session featuring Francis on bass and Shuman on drums\, with the two soon conjuring the hypnotically potent riff that propels the track forward. With its viscerally charged depiction of lust and self-denial\, the darkly majestic epic reaches a stratospheric crescendo at the bridge\, when pounding drums meet with Say She She’s near-operatic harmonies. “Once we had that riff I started filling in some freeform poetry from my notebook\, which had to do with the idea of taking direction in an intimate liaison\,” says Francis. “It all came together so naturally because of how Michael was playing drums\, bringing that Queens of the Stone Age heavy-rock thing I love so much.” \nOne of the most dance-ready tracks on Return To Zero\, “Back It Up” glides along on glossy synth lines and a playfully swaggering riff\, imbuing a carefree spirit into Francis’ deliberately over-the-top confession of romantic desperation. “That song went through a few different phases before we got to the final iteration\,” he says. “It took me a while to accept that it’s okay to have fun with the lyrics\, instead of making everything so serious all the time.” Meanwhile\, on “What’s Left Of Me\,” Francis presents a gorgeously sprawling power-pop anthem built on his resplendent piano work. Co-written with Nashville-based songwriter Chris Gelbuda\, the track arose from a piano-and-vocal demo captured at Chicago’s Fine Arts Building\, soon evolving into a piercingly candid reflection on life on the road. “Chris and I are good friends and we got to talking about the challenges of being in a committed relationship while you’re on tour\,” says Francis. “A lot of these songs were influenced by Electric Light Orchestra and the way Jeff Lynne synthesizes classical music and pop songwriting\, and ‘What’s Left Of Me’ was definitely one where I was going for an ELO vibe.” \nPartly inspired by the funk and dance records he typically spins during his sets as an all-vinyl DJ\, Return To Zero also encompasses everything from the spaced-out drama of “Dance Through Life” to the string-laced reverie of “Can’t Get Enough” (a collaboration with Durand Jones & The Indications’ Blake Rhein that is a sublimely mellowed-out homage to acid-jazz pioneer Roy Ayers). In creating such a complex body of work\, Francis found his sense of perseverance repeatedly tested. “Most of these songs were pretty hard-won\,” he says. “There was a feeling of pulling out all the stops to achieve what I was going for\, and in the middle of that I was dealing with some depression and exhaustion. I ended up learning a lot about myself\, and now I feel like I’m in a completely different place in terms of my priorities with mental health.” Despite its more daunting aspects\, the writing and recording of Return To Zero also brought plenty of moments of pleasure\, including composing with strings for the very first time and tracking songs with his longtime bandmates. “All those guys are like my brothers\, and there was a feeling of us working together with an almost athletic desire to get better every time we did a new take\,” Francis says. “Those were really long days at the studio\, but they were also so much fun.” \nLooking back on the making of Return To Zero\, Francis points to certain crucial lessons absorbed while creating his most extravagantly realized work so far. “One of the main things I’ve learned is that every album is going to be its own journey; I can’t really take the arsenal of things I’ve learned in the past and expect them to save me from any kind of frustration with whatever I make next\,” he says. “Creating art is always going to be a challenge\, which maybe goes back to why AI-created music is never going to be all that compelling—it’s just too fucking easy. The best I can do is use what’s at my disposal and try not to freak out or despair when it gets difficult\, and hopefully end up making something that gives people joy.” \n# # #

SUMMARY:VT Reggae Fest w/ Richie Spice\, Sister Nancy\, The Abyssinians & Marlon Asher at Burlington Waterfront
DESCRIPTION:The Vermont Reggae Festival presented by True 802 and ElmThree \nLineup: \nRichie Spice \nSister Nancy \nThe Abyssinians \nMarlon Asher \nWith Roots Alley Collective and Inna Higher Heights Band \n  \nWindjammer Hotel Partner Deal Link: https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/hotel-rooms.46013.html?groupId=1T9HS5Y6 \n  \nRICHIE SPICE \nBorn Richell Bonner in the Kingston\, Jamaica suburb of St. Andrew\, Richie Spice hails from a musical family that includes his older brother Pliers\, singer Spanner Banner and deejay Snatcher Dogg. \n  \nHe is a member of the Rastafari movement. Some of his most famous songs include\, “Brown Skin”\, “Youth Dem Cold Rel Bad”\, “Grooving’ My Girl”\, “Earth a Run Red”\, “Marijuana” \,”The Plane Land” and “King and Queen” (which he did with Barbadian Queen of Soca Alison Hinds). \n  \nSISTER NANCY \nSister Nancy (Ophlin Russell) broke ground as Jamaica’s first internationally recognized female dancehall deejay. Her 1982 hit “Bam Bam”\, recorded at Channel One Studios and released on Winston Riley’s Techniques label\, sits atop the Stalag riddim\, a groove as eternal as reggae itself. \nThe chant “bam bam” dates back to Toots & The Maytals (1966)\, connecting Nancy’s version to a deeper Jamaican lineage of rhythmic call-and-response. Her interpretation\, however\, is wholly her own: fierce\, confident\, and declarative. \nBorn Ophlin Russell on January 2\, 1962\, in Kingston\, Jamaica\, Sister Nancy grew up in a large family of fifteen children in a deeply religious home where her father was a revivalist pastor. Despite the conservative environment\, music called to her early. Inspired by her older brother\, Brigadier Jerry\, one of Jamaica’s most respected deejays\, she began performing on local sound systems as a teenager\, including Jah Love and later Stereophonic alongside General Echo. In a time when the dancehall scene was almost entirely male\, she broke barriers by grabbing the mic and commanding he crowd with confidence\, wit\, and rhythm. Her first single\, Papa Dean\, was produced by Winston Riley of the Techniques label in 1980\, marking the start of a new era for female voices in reggae. \nTwo years later\, her debut album One Two (1982) made history with the track Bam Bam\, recorded over the legendary Stalag 17 riddim. The song’s infectious groove and bold lyrics became a worldwide anthem\, later sampled hundreds of times across hip-hop and pop — from Lauryn Hill to Jay-Z. Though she received no royalties for decades\, Sister Nancy’s perseverance and eventual legal victory symbolized a reclaiming of artistic ownership. Now celebrated as the first woman to rise in the male-dominated dancehall world\, she stands as a cultural icon whose voice and message continue to echo through generations of reggae and beyond. \nBam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story won Best Music Documentary at the World Music and Independent Film Festival and was also nominated for Best Feature Documentary Direction. \nBillboard Reggae Albums Chart: Sister Nancy’s ‘One Two’ Debuts At No. 3 Following Vinyl Reissue \nSister Nancy’s iconic 1982 debut album One Two has made its debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart\, landing at No. 3 on the chart dated April 26\, 2025. The milestone comes after the album was reissued on vinyl for the first time in over four decades as part of Record Store Day on April 12. \nTHE ABYSSINIANS \nThe Abyssinians\, formed in Kingston\, Jamaica\, in 1968\, are a legendary roots reggae vocal trio celebrated for their deep spiritual themes\, striking harmonies\, and Ethiopian Amharic lyrics. Founded by Bernard Collins\, Donald Manning\, and Linford Manning\, the group remains one of the most influential acts in Jamaican music history. Known for their heavenly close harmonies\, dark melodies\, and Rastafarian messages\, the group helped define roots reggae. Their impact crosses genres \nMARLON ASHER \n21 years after releasing his hit Ganja Farmer\, Marlon Asher returns with an oeuvre called Safe. While this is exciting news\, even more thrilling is the name of the producer behind the twelve tracks (plus the short interlude On My Way): Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett\, the mastermind of the early 2000s who has kept a low profile in reggae music recently. \nListening to the opener Give Praises\, a reduced Nyabinghi piece featuring “the Messenjah” Luciano\, we encounter two more outstanding characteristics of the release. For one\, the consciousness and spirituality of the lyrics\, coupled with deep faith that is mirrored in the final King’s Highway and in the title track\, Safe. On the other hand\, there is an impressive list of featured artists\, most of which have accompanied Marlon Asher for years on his journey. \nThus\, Sizzla is not only a respected colleague\, but also a brotherly mentor who helped Asher with practical advice and even took him on tour to Japan recently. Together the two singers step boldly onto the laid-back\, bassline dominated Never See Us Fall\, encouraging us to “fix our crown” and keep pushing whenever obstacles come up. Equally powerful\, Tarrus Riley and Capleton lend their well-known voices to Diamonds & Gold\, a song complaining about the gangsterism that sweeps islands like Jamaica and Trinidad. “Why are their hearts so cold?” \nNot cold but warm has been the welcome that US-band Slightly Stoopid has given Marlon\, making him an honorary member of their group. Here\, they join him on the melodious I&I\, another song giving praises to the Most High. While J Boog is an obvious choice for the love song Call Me\, the final feature is a surprise given the deep\, slow reggae sound of the instrumental that’s so different from his usual output. Masicka is\, however\, a perfect addition to the meditative In The Hills\, a description of how weed should be enjoyed far from city-life bustle as there’s “no interruption\, nobody to kill my vibe.”

SUMMARY:Ripe at The Vogel
DESCRIPTION:Ripe remembers sweating to hell in a basement underneath a Subway sandwich shop\, building their very first songs in a concrete cube that smelled like fresh bread. They remember selling their first tickets by hand outside the coffee shop that their friends worked at\, holding court like twenty-something impresarios trying to move like 50 tickets to a bar that was willing to let you keep the ticket sales if they kept the bar. \nIn a world where we constantly feel the loving pressure to “tell our story”\, where so many of our friends that have found success as artists have done it alone\, Ripe is using their bio to tell you that at the center of everything is collaboration and community\, a friendship that has become a bond as strong as family\, a constantly spinning object that cannot be properly captured by any single still photograph. \nThis moment\, the two songs already out and the new songs coming\, catches the band in a moment of intense joyous swelling energy. Working in dream studios\, in a city they spent years trying to take a proper chance on\, with a producer that had made albums we loved in our formative years\, alongside the closest musical relations we’ve formed. This is our love letter to complicated nostalgia\, to relentless empowering change\, to realizing that making dreams come true (just like a crisis) only fully makes sense when it is shared. \nJoy in the wild unknown let us tell you who we were. Bright blues had us ripped apart so we could start again. What comes next is the band swinging for the fences\, all in at the table\, risking everything for a shot at feeling connected to you. Thank you for being here.

SUMMARY:Briscoe at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:If Briscoe’s debut album was a coming-of-age soundtrack set against the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country\, then its follow-up\, Heat of July\, is the sound of a fully-formed duo chasing down a broader horizon. Inspired by marriage\, landscapes\, and the cross-country tours that took the band across America\, these new songs were written on the road\, as eclectic and evocative as the terrain that unfolded just outside the van’s windshield. Once again\, Briscoe teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Brad Cook to bring the songs to life\, collaboratively creating a record that expands Briscoe’s folk-rock sound in all directions. There are bigger arrangements\, sharper vocal harmonies\, and enough top-tier guest musicians — including members of Houndmouth\, Hiss Golden Messenger\, Bon Iver\, Mipso\, and Watchhouse — to form their own supergroup. The result is a cinematic\, widescreen version of American roots music\, created by two lifelong friends who’ve learned to distill the thrill of the open road — and the challenges of growing up — into an ever-evolving soundtrack. \nVIP Available through artist website only \nWebsite: https://www.briscoetheband.com/ \nMeet Briscoe VIP Upgrade Includes the following:  \n25 Upgrades per Show \n$50 lift + fees \n•Pre-show Meet & Greet and photo opportunity \n•Access to a 2-song soundcheck performance \n•Tour poster\, signed by Briscoe \n•Early entry into the venue \n  \nABOUT Noah James\nAt just 18 years old\, Baton Rouge-based country singer-songwriter Noah James is emerging as\none of the genre’s most compelling new voices. SUMMARY:Surf Hat w/ Swim Fin
DESCRIPTION:SURF HAT \nWhat started as a joke between friends on a beach in Tofino has gradually snowballed into \nsomething real. In 2022\, a loose pact was made: start something new\, don’t overthink it\, and \nwrite catchy songs that feel relatable and genuine. \nBased in the mountain town of Squamish\, British Columbia\, Surf Hat have been crafting their \nown version of cold-water surf rock — beach music written somewhere between the ocean and \nthe mountains. Their sound floats somewhere between breezy shimmer of Allah-Las\, the loose \nswagger of The Growlers\, and the off-kilter quirkiness of Talking Heads. \nThe band has quickly built momentum the old-fashioned way: writing constantly and taking their \nmusic on the road. Surf Hat have released three full-length albums\, including Modern World \nBlues released in November 2025\, a record that expands their sound without losing the loose\, \nunhurried spirit the band started with. \nFollowing their most recent release\, Surf Hat have spent the year circling the globe on sold out \nheadline tours across Canada\, the United States\, and Australia\, convincingly turning casual \nlisters into lifelong fans. Next\, they’ll head back out across Canada supporting The Sheepdogs \non some of the country’s biggest stages — not bad for a band named after a hat. \nTWIN FIN \nhttps://www.twinfinmusic.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country at The Stone Pony
DESCRIPTION:There are a lot of musical influences and sources that Daniel Donato has drawn on during his career and that inform his latest album\, Horizon (Retrace Music)\, his second all-original album. But within those\, Donato has carved out a unique and individualized spot for himself\, one that speaks to the deep American music heritage that inspires him — and that he’s pushing towards the future with inspired\, intentional vigor.\n\nHe calls it Cosmic Country\, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang; a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West\, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California\, tie-dye and plaid\, it’s a world of his own\, and a wide world of musical adventure at that.\n\nWhile growing up in Nashville his his father\, who turned his young son on to music of all genres\, suggested the fledgling and industriously minded (even at just 14) artist start busking in Nashville’s lower Broadway area and outside concerts\, for eight hours at a time on the weekends. One night\, the two happened by Robert’s Western World where legendary honky-tonk local mainstay the Don Kelly Band were performing. Donato eventually became a member of the band\, playing four hours a night at Robert’s (464 shows in total).\n\nHorizons is the follow up to 2023’s Reflector\, which received critical acclaim from a wide range of press\, including No Depression\, Glide Magazine\, Magnet Magazine\, and more. Donato the subject of features in Rolling Stone\, UPROXX\, Garden & Gun and Relix. Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country made their network television debut on CBS Saturday Morning and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic online series.\n\nThe whole package of player\, singer\, writer and band leader was in place. Three albums in\, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country\, featuring Nathan “Sugarlegg” Aronowitz (keyboards/guitars/vocals)\, Will “Mustang” McGee (bass/vocals) and Will “Bronco” Clark (drums\, percussion/vocals) are selling out venues throughout the country and bringing their brand of Cosmic Country to an ever growing\, passionate fanbase\n\n\nSOCIALS & DSPs: \n💻 Website      🔵 Facebook   📸 Instagram   ✨TikTok         🎥 YouTube    🎶 Spotify
