DESCRIPTION:Tom Hamilton’s guiding creative principle is very simple: he doesn’t like to repeat himself artistically. \nFor the Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter and guitarist\, this mindset stems from a deep-seated motivation to keep pushing himself as an artist — to delve into different lyrical themes and musical detours\, to explore potentially uncomfortable and unfamiliar emotional places. “That’s a thrilling prospect\,” says Hamilton. “To find the deeper things inside and to open up those doors that I didn’t even know were there.” \nAs founding member of Brothers Past\, American Babies\, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead\, Ghost Light and Billy and The Kids\, Hamilton has written/recorded roughly a dozen albums and EPs and shared the stage with everyone from John Mayer to Bob Weir to Billy Strings. \nHamilton’s debut record as a solo artist will be released in late 2025.

SUMMARY:LaMP at Lark Hall
DESCRIPTION:Join us in welcoming back LaMP ft Russ Lawton\, Scott Metzger\, Ray Paczkowskion Friday\, January 23rd. Doors 7/Show 8\n\n\n\nOn a magical night at Nectar’s\, in Burlington\, VT\, in December of 2018\, three musical masters — Russ Lawton\, Scott Metzger and Ray Paczkowski — came together with alchemical synthesis\, and created a fresh\, so-tight-it’s-free sound\, permeated with technical prowess and a deep-pocket punch. The packed house fortunate enough to be in attendance that night witnessed the birth of something very special: LaMP. \nMetzger\, described by The Village Voice as “…an ace guitarist of a thousand styles\,” and a full-time member of the beloved Joe Russo’s Almost Dead\, tested the decades-strong synergy between Lawton and Paczkowski\, forged from their time playing with Trey Anastasio Band andtheir duo project Soule Monde. The melodic and harmonic interplay of Paczkowski’s swirling organ and clavinet dancing with Metzger’s acrobatic melodies on telecaster\, both driven by Lawton’s unflappable backbeat\, produces music that is immediate and irresistible. It’s the chemistry that drives LaMP’s newest studio album\, “One Of Us\,” which arrives on March 21 via Royal Potato Family. The trio previewed the record with the lead single\, “Jasper’s World.” \n“One of Us” follows LaMP’s 2024 release\, “Live At Nectar’s\,” captured at the famed Burlington club where the band formed. The new studio effort — cut at Ben Collette’s Tank Recording Studio in Burlington — marks the trio’s first since releasing their 2020 self-titled debut album. \n“This record has more of a gritty\, edgy sound to it compared to our first one\,” Metzger said of”One Of Us.” “The first album felt clean and smooth. ‘One Of Us’ has more attitude. It still emphasizes melody\, groove\, and accessibility like the first record\, but this one feels like we’ve got some more miles under our belt\, which makes sense since 2024 was a big year for our little band. \n“Most of these tunes started from beats Russ sent around\, and Ray or I would put down aharmonic or melodic idea we thought captured the mood of the groove\,” Metzger added. “LaMP definitely started with a sound right from the first show and it continues to grow as we write new songs\,” Lawton said. “Someone will come in with a song — or I’ll pass along a rhythmic concept — and we’ll build from there.” \n“It’s the next sounds of three musicians who are playing what they feel\, and feeling it as one\,”Paczkowski added. “The album is called One Of Us\, but if there is a theme to this record\, it might be ‘three of us.’ We’re all writers in the sense of courting some kind of inspiration\, a melody\, a rhythm\, a vibe; feeling some kind of spark and bringing it to the band. The goal was to get a fire going.

SUMMARY:Railroad Earth at The Stone Pony
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, Railroad Earth has captivated audiences with gleefully unpredictable live shows and eloquent and elevated studio output. The group introduced its signature sound on 2001’s The Black Bear Sessions. Between selling out hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison\, CO\, they’ve launched the longstanding annual Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville\, CA and Hillberry: The Harvest Moon Festival in Ozark\, AR—both running for a decade-plus. Sought after by legends\, the John Denver Estate tapped them to put lyrics penned by the late John Denver to music on the 2019 vinyl EP\, Railroad Earth: The John Denver Letters. Beyond tallying tens of millions of streams\, the collective have earned widespread critical acclaim from David Fricke of Rolling Stone\, American Songwriter\, Glide Magazine\, and NPR who assured\, “Well-versed in rambling around\, as you might expect from a band named after a Jack Kerouac poem\, the New Jersey-built jam-grass engine Railroad Earth has let no moss grow under its rustic wheels.” \n

SUMMARY:Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Madison Theater (Covington\, KY)
DESCRIPTION:For Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, music is a living flame—one demanding relentless tending\, fresh kindling\, and the collective breath of community to sustain it. On their eighth studio album\, Feed The Fire ( No Coincidence Records)\, the Baltimore quartet—Greg Ormont [vocals\, guitar]\, Jeremy Schon [guitar\, vocals]\, Ben Carrey [bass\, vocals]\, and Alex “Gator” Petropulos [drums\, vocals]—push their psychedelic funk odyssey into its most expansive incarnation yet. Across 17 years\, eight albums\, and countless sweat-soaked performances\, Pigeons have mastered transformation\, deepening their connection with their devoted fanbase and channeling life’s seismic shifts into fuel for their unquenchable fire. “The ‘fire’ represents our passion\,” explains Ormont. “Making music feels like something we were born to do. Feed The Fire is the perfect metaphor for our unwavering commitment to keep evolving.” Significant milestones\, from headlining major stages to their fan-centric Domefest\, underscore their remarkable journey. \nFeed The Fire shatters boundaries through adventurous collaboration. The band invited Nashville virtuoso Wes Bailey (Moon Taxi) to co-write the title track’s spiraling guitar hooks—a first for the group. “As soon as I played him the demo\, he came up with the soaring lead melody on the spot\,” recalls Schon. “It ended up being our first true collaborative writing experience.” In another debut\, Ben Carrey steps into the lead vocal spotlight on his heartfelt groove anthem “Hit The Ground Runnin’.” Horn collaborators Here Come The Mummies and West End Blend amplify tracks like “Fantasy” and “Calm Before The Storm\,” while guest producer Chalk Dinosaur enhances the psychedelic layers on “Twitch” and “Underworld.” \nThe band’s relentless evolution is evident in standout tracks like the buoyantly infectious “Right Track\,” which distills their live energy into a concise message of resilience and self-trust. According to Schon\, “Every album we make is a reflection of where we are personally and musically. For Feed The Fire\, we really leaned into exploring textures\, pushing our boundaries\, and letting the songs guide us.” From the patient disco-funk simmer of “Fantasy” to the driving rebel cry of “Undivided\,” the album showcases the band’s sharpened musicianship and rhythmic intuition. \nUltimately\, Feed The Fire is more than an album title—it’s a rallying cry emblematic of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s enduring philosophy. Refreshingly dynamic\, powerfully resonant\, and irresistibly danceable\, it marks a milestone release poised to captivate listeners across genres. Ormont sums it up perfectly: “We’ve been given the gift of this fire\, this passion. So it’s our responsibility to nurture it\, embrace it\, and spread it wild. Because when the band and fans reach new heights together\, that’s the real spark.”

SUMMARY:Mothguts 20th Anniversary Show with We Used to Cut the Grass and Mono Means One at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:Mothguts 20th Anniversary Show \nWe Used to Cut the Grass \nMono Means One \nMOTHGUTS \nMothguts is a New Jersey–based instrumental quartet known for smashing together the worlds of death metal\, free jazz\, grunge\, grindcore\, noise\, and sludge into a relentless sonic assault. Founded in 2005\, the band has carved out a reputation for fearless experimentation\, chaotic energy\, and a sound that refuses to be contained by genre. \nThe lineup features Mike Noordzy on bass\, Ben Ross on drums\, Anthony Ware on alto saxophone\, and Chris Welcome on guitar. Together\, they’ve cultivated a brutal yet boundary-defying aesthetic\, marked by blistering improvisation and crushing heaviness. \nNow celebrating their 20th anniversary\, Mothguts remains a singular force in the underground\, revered for their uncompromising creativity and blistering live shows. Two decades in\, the band continues to blur boundaries and challenge listeners with music that is as punishing as it is visionary. \nWE USED TO CUT THE GRASS \nWe Used to Cut the Grass is a shapeshifting experimental ensemble led by composer/bassist Cody McCorry\, most frequently appearing as a 10-piece band known for heavy brass and two tightly synchronized drum kits. Heavily inspired by the likes of Frank Zappa\, John Zorn and Sun Ra\, the band has roots in the blurred zone between progressive rock and jazz fusion\, but has since stretched further into post-rock and experimental endeavors\, reaching from orchestral/chamber works to absurdist sound collage. The group’s sophomore album\, “We Used to Cut the Grass #2\,” is the follow up to their similarly self-titled album released in 2022. It has been described by math rock periodical Fecking Bahamas as “a much needed joyride.” On the album and its composer\, Prog Critique has this to say: “I don’t know if he’s a genius or a brilliant madman… [the album] surprises\, it disorients\, as much as it captivates… have we ever seen a band cover such a rich palette?” \nMONO MEANS ONE \nMono Means One is a psychedelic prog trio and the brainchild of bassist and composer John Ferrara\, best known as the bass player and co-founder of the acclaimed world fusion band “Consider the Source.” Mono Means One’s sound contains melancholic melodies\, rich sonic textures with Drum ‘N’ Bass grooves and Mathrock sensibilities. Half composed and half improvised\, the music is often dark\, with moments of calm serenity and other times heavy\, oscillating between chill grooves to almost unbearable intensity. Originally composed entirely on the bass guitar\, John paired up with Rob Madore (Drums) and Isaac Young (Keys) to add intensely nuanced beats with futuristic colorful sonic textures. All three members produce a sound that is powerful and unique all to their own. \nFerrara has been dubbed the “Unsung Genius” of bass tapping by bass sensation Charles Berthoud\, is a teacher at Scotts Bass Lessons\, and has been featured in Bass Magazine\, NoTreble\, Bass Musician magazine among many other publications.

SUMMARY:Kitchen Dwellers at Madison Live (Covington\, KY)
DESCRIPTION:In Dante’s Inferno\, the author grapples with sin\, its various manifestations\, and its consequences. This time ultimately traces a trajectory of self-realization\, acceptance\, and accountability. Kitchen Dwellers embark on a similar odyssey over the course of their fourth full-length offering\, Seven Devils. The Montana quartet—Shawn Swain [Mandolin]\, Torrin Daniels [Banjo]\, Joe Funk [Upright Bass]\, and Max Davies [Acoustic Guitar]—thread together an immersive and inimitable conceptual arc inspired by Dante’s Inferno and set to a soundtrack of folk-infused bluegrass spiked with psychedelic vision and rock energy. \nContinuing their own journey as brothers\, they deliver their most ambitious and anthemic body of work yet. \n“These tunes deal with the human experience\, and Torrin initially drew a parallel between the music and Dante\,” Max states. “We explored the connection by correlating each song with a sin. Some of these connections are only apparent if you dive deep into the lyrics. Our goal is to essentially take the listener through our own interpretation of the Inferno story.” \n“We didn’t go into the studio with the intent of making a concept album\,” recalls Torrin. “I was driving around listening to everything\, and I noticed these parallels. To dive deeper\, we’re discussing topics like mental health\, the human condition\, and what we go through on the road. In life and music\, everything is recurring and universal. I was reading Dante at the time\, and it naturally fit.” \nIt proved to be a logical next step as well… \nThus far\, Kitchen Dwellers have engaged and enraptured listeners with albums such as Ghost In The Bottle [2017]\, Muir Maid [2019]\, Live from the Wilma [2021]\, and Wise River [2022]. Of the latter\, Holler. praised how “Kitchen Dwellers have preserved their sense of youthful experimentation\,” and Relix proclaimed\, “The songs on the new record build on this range\, while also reflecting on the group’s Bozeman\, Montana home.” Between tallying millions of streams\, the band ignited hallowed venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and graced the bills of Telluride Bluegrass\, Northwest String Summit\, WinterWonderGrass\, and beyond. \nIn order to bring Seven Devils to life\, the musicians opted to work with producer Glenn Brown. It would not only mark their first time collaborating with the producer\, but it also would be the first time they decamped to Michigan in order to record. \n“The studio itself definitely impacted the vibe\,” Torrin notes. “It’s a tiny workspace\, but it’s full of old recording equipment with legendary stories attached to it. For almost the entire time\, we were forced to congregate in this room together. The process was ever-evolving\, because ideas kept flowing.” \nFittingly\, “Seven Devils (Limbo)” opens the album and serves as the first single. Nimbly picked banjo and upbeat acoustic guitar set the pace as the regretful chorus bemoans\, “Am I supposed to hop the next train? Or stand here drowning in the Oregon rain?” A guitar-driven bridge dips in and out of effects-laden echoes and stark strumming. Coming full circle\, a ten-minute version of “Seven Devils” later bookends the record with an epic finale. \n“I incorporated some elements of grunge in terms of the chords\, which are a little dissonant\,” Torrin elaborates. “Thematically\, it’s the descent into Hell. First\, Dante goes through limbo before reaching any of the circles where the cardinal sins are addressed. ‘Seven Devils’  evokes the feeling of being in limbo.” \n“It also signifies you’re embarking on some type of journey\,” Max agrees. “By the end of the LP\, you know the protagonist isn’t going to be the same person.” \nThen\, there’s “The Crow and The Raven (III).” The track’s emotionally charged vocals seesaw on top of strings in a moment of terse reflection. “I went through a horrible breakup in 2018 when I wrote the first version\,” Shawn remembers. “‘The Crow and The Raven (III)’ sat in my notebook for a half-decade before we revamped it. Now\, it’s a sad\, slower lament about enduring the loss of a relationship.” \n“Pendulum” rushes towards a mournful refrain offset by a plucky crescendo. “It’s about dealing with an addiction in your life and how it affects relationships\,” Joe says. “People often trade one addiction for another\, whether positive or detrimental to their life\, as a means to satisfy their baseline addictive tendencies.” \nOn the other end of the spectrum\, “Here We Go (VI)” laments the epidemic of shootings in America with unfiltered frustration projected through a powerful ebb and flow punctuated by a cameo from Lindsay Lou. \n“I was riding a Greyhound from Seattle to Missoula in 2012\,” Max goes on. “There had just been another school shooting. It’s terrible to think of how many shootings have happened since. Why is this happening? The chorus shifts gears to miscommunication between two parties in a relationship. Those are the two driving forces.” \nAn electric guitar lead heralds the onset of “Unwind (Paradiso)\,” building towards one climactic moment of catharsis. \n“A psychedelic experience and life-changing ego death changed my outlook on many things\,” Torrin admits. “‘Unwind (Paradiso)’ was one of those moments where you surrender and let it take you. You’re letting go of the human things in your brain that make you want to fight or cause you to be afraid. It also came together in the studio as a band\, which was super cool.” \nIn the end\, Kitchen Dwellers may just leave you changed with Seven Devils. \n“The record is a trip inward within the self\,” Torrin concludes. “It tackles a lot of things in the world people try not to think about. The reality is we’re only truly happy when happiness comes from within. That’s the message.”

SUMMARY:Durry w/ VIAL at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:After years of grinding the local Minneapolis music scene\, Austin Durry was back at square one. He had been touring and making music with his act at the time\, but that all shut down with the rest of the world when COVID happened. Temporarily\, he and his wife decided to move back home and joined his parents and younger sister Taryn to figure out their next move. However\, instead of giving up on his dream\, Austin and Taryn started Durry\, a band that would change the trajectory of their lives forever. “Durry formed really naturally in the early pandemic days and then we had a song pop off in 2021 and all of the sudden we’re a legit band and trying to do it\,” he explains. \nAustin is referring to the song “Who’s Laughing Now” and its accompanying video\, which sees Austin and Taryn—along with bassist (and Austin’s wife) Ashley Durry and drummer Dane Hoppe—rocking out in the basement of the Durry’s childhood home as they sing about following their dream against the odds. In a meta sense the premise of the song is exactly what it accomplished for the emerging act. (The video for the song currently has 1.5 million views on YouTube and over two million likes on TikTok.) “The whole thing was so unexpected\,” Austin says of the viral smash\, which propelled the band’s 2023 debut Suburban Legend into the mainstream consciousness. “I had been toying around with the song and Taryn hadn’t even heard [the final mix] yet; I just made a little video and posted it and suddenly we went from having 20 followers to having 6\,000. We have this horrible habit of having songs go viral unexpectedly and then being totally unprepared for it.” \nIn that spirit Durry hasn’t released any new music in a year\, a fact that’s all about to change with the release of the band’s sophomore album This Movie Sucks. “Our first record was really pieced together whenever we could afford to pay for time in the studio\, but for this record we sat down and wrote songs for six months and just whittled it down to the best ones\,” Austin explains. “It was really refreshing just being totally intentional about the entire vision right from the start and then going into a really legit studio and having a producer with all the songs finished when we got there\,” he continues. “When we made the last album\, I had never been in a studio before\, so I feel like I’ve gained a lot more confidence and skills over time\,” Taryn adds. \nThe embargo on new music may not have been easy for the group\, but their heightened levels of confidence and production are evident on each song on This Movie Sucks. From the fuzzed-out wake-up call of the opener “Bully” to the jangly powerful pop of “More Dumb” and the intricately arranged ballad “IDK I Just Work Here\,” the new album continually showcases Durry’s musical versatility. “I think that people are going to cling to different songs because the genre of the album is very wide\,” Austin says. “There are acoustic songs\, there are folk songs and punk songs and listeners will latch onto different parts of it and everyone can find their slice.” Taryn agrees adding\, “Everyone who has listened to the album seems to have a different favorite song and I think that’s really unique. We do touch on a lot of different genres and styles but somehow we’ve been able to still make it cohesive and I think that’s a big win.” \nLyrically\, This Movie Sucks touches on universal themes such as prolonged grief\, the toxic nature of Internet culture and remembering loved ones. One especially poignant song is “The Long Goodbye\,” an acoustic ballad that sees Austin and Tayrn dueting about the people in their lives that they have lost over a stripped-down arrangement.“I think with this album we’ve really been able to figure out where our two voices sit with each other and we had a lot more time with my harmonies this time around as far as what could help add to the song\,” Taryn explains. These relatable themes—augmented by Durry’s idiosyncratic sense of humor—and the way these two siblings are able to come together musically adds a level of poignancy to the songs on This Movie Sucks that is present through both its most jubilant and vulnerable moments. \nBut ultimately This Movie Sucks is a celebration\, not just of the current moment but of the way Durry has transformed a negative situation into a creative outlet that has connected them with other people all over the globe. “If we weren’t forced to slow down [due to the pandemic]\, I don’t think any of this would have happened\,” Austin admits. “Moving back home was a really humbling experience but it was really good.” This sentiment is captured on the Suburban Legend song “Losers Club\,” a synth-heavy ode to finding joy when life doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would. “That song is about accepting your place and being OK with it—and that ended up being a tent pole song for us and our fans refer to themselves as the ‘Losers Club.’” \nDurry may have started out as an internet sensation championed by unlikely advocates like Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst\, but after spending the past few years touring the country and honing their craft\, they want to show the world that they are a seasoned act\, who remain involved in every aspect of their career—from the merch to the songs to the videos. “We’ve been able to have more resources with this album and get help when we need it but we’re still trying to maintain the whole DIY nature of the band while also keeping the quality as high as we can\,” Austin explains. “Our hands are in every part of this band and meeting our own quality standards are really important to us\,” he adds. “We have a super unified vision and feel like everything goes together—and that’s why things can take so long\, but that’s so important to us.”

SUMMARY:Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country at The Stone Pony
DESCRIPTION:There are a lot of musical influences and sources that Daniel Donato has drawn on during his career and that inform Reflector (Retrace Music)\, the Nashville guitarist-singer-songwriter-band leader’s first all-original album. But within those Donato has carved out a unique and individualized spot for himself\, one that speaks to the deep American music heritage that inspires him — and that he’s pushing towards the future with inspired\, intentional vigor. \nHe calls it Cosmic Country\, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang\, a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West\, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California\, tie-dye and plaid\, it’s a world of his own\, and wide world of musical adventure at that. \n“I think Cosmic Country is a tale as old as time\, really\,” Donato explains. “It’s yin and yang in a musical form. It’s three chords and the truth\, and then on the other side it’s exploration and bravery. I really went through a lot of years of grinding\, and still am\, to achieve this sound which is a vehicle for my personality\, and the personality is a vehicle for my soul. So (Reflector) is more that than any other record I ever put out.” \nMore at https://danieldonato.com/

SUMMARY:Neighbor at Madison Live (Covington\, KY)
DESCRIPTION:The band Neighbor began over 35 years ago – they just didn’t know it yet. Childhood neighbors Richard James (vocals\, keys) and Lyle Brewer (guitar) shared fence lines and melodies as they both grew and explored their own musical paths. The quartet became complete with the addition of Dan Kelly (bass) and Dean Johnston (drums) in 2019. Their creative incubation began with a weekly residency that grew in large part by the passion of their fans\, the “Neighbors\,” who continue to inspire the band as the fan base has expanded across the country. In 2025\, Lyle Brewer departed the band and Rob Compa (Dopapod) took his place. Lyle’s last show was The Cabot in Beverly\, MA on February 23\, 2025. \nWith a diverse catalog of hundreds of songs\, the musical juggernaut Neighbor has become one of the most exciting and unpredictable live bands on the music scene today. Neighbor combines ambitious composition\, soulful balladry\, and a fearless approach to their lengthy improvisations. Not boxed in by a single genre\, their songwriting brings elements of Americana\, Funk\, Rock\, Jazz\, Soul and more. The band is putting pen to paper once again as they head back into the studio to begin work on their second album.

SUMMARY:God Street Wine at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1988 by Lo Faber\, Aaron Maxwell\, Dan Pifer\, Jon Bevo\, and Tom Osander\, God Street Wine played a prominent role in the early jam band scene alongside fellow New Yorkers Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. Veterans of the HORDE Tour as well as runs with The Allman Brothers\, Bruce Hornsby and The Black Crowes\, they also released 5 albums and performed more than 1\,000 shows across the United States in their first decade together. \nIn 1999 the band split up after playing a three night farewell engagement at the Wetlands Preserve in NYC. Selected performances from these final shows were compiled into the posthumous live album “Good To the Last Drop”. \nAfter almost a decade apart\, GSW reunited privately in 2009 to honor the passing of an old friend and a year later played four concerts in NYC benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Infrequent but memorable gatherings continued at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios\, Sweetwater Music Hall\, rambles with Phil Lesh at Terrapin Crossroads and Jam Cruise. In 2013 they released a 25th anniversary box set retrospective and the documentary film All The Way To Here. Several years later the band ‑ now spread out across the globe in New York\, New Orleans and Berlin ‑ started collaborating on new studio tracks which led to eight new single releases in 2017-18 and the full length album This Fine Town in 2019. \nAfter eight shows in summer 2019\, other projects and commitments brought the band to another hiatus – a break that ended up longer than expected due to the Covid pandemic. After four years apart\, GSW got together again in 2023 with two New York area shows to benefit MS4MS (Mission Stadiums for Multiple Sclerosis). \n2024 brought more activity for GSW! On top of marking the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1st major label release\, $1.99 Romances\, and digitally releasing the long-lost Hot Sweet & Juicy\, the band is also releasing 3 albums from their catalog (Bag\, $1.99 Romances\, Hot Sweet & Juicy) on vinyl for the first time. This will all culminate with the original fivesome performing together again with four New York area shows! \n21 and up \nDoors 7:00 PM\nShow 8:00 PM

SUMMARY:Johnny Mullenax / Griffin William Sherry at Asbury Jams
DESCRIPTION:JOHNNY MULLANAX – Johnny Mullenax\, a Tulsa native\, grew up in a musical family. He started playing the guitar atage 5. In his teens\, he followed his family to the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield\, Kansas. In typical Johnny fashion\, he showed up with just a guitar and ended up sleeping in a stand up bass case. At 18\, he used a friend’s ID to get into a club where he was part of a live hip hop band backing rappers. According to Johnny\, “Life is too short to play one style of music\, and if you have an opportunity to try something different then you should give it a shot.” \nClaiming wide-ranging influences from AC/DC and The Ramones to John Coltrane and Parliament\, Johnny calls his genre-bending sound a funky country bluegrass good time! \nBefore COVID\, Johnny went out on the road with fellow Okie TJ McFarland (Tennessee Jet)and started connecting to a network of other touring musicians. He always wanted to starthis own project\, and after playing as a sideman for seven years with several bands\, he finallytook that leap. \nGRIFFIN WILLIAM SHERRY – Griffin William Sherry\, the Maine-born singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist\, is known for his ability to craft stories that resonate deeply\, whether they’re shared around a campfire or at a summer festival. After spending twelve years fronting The Ghost of Paul Revere\, Griffin steps into the spotlight as a solo artist with his debut album\, *Hundred Mile Wilderness*. His music\, characterized by a powerful vocal delivery and no-frills instrumentation\, delves into the joys and challenges of small-town life and the personal journey of self-discovery. Through songs filled with raw honesty and eloquent lyricism\, Griffin continues to explore life’s big questions\, inviting listeners to pause and appreciate the moment. Now\, with a new chapter unfolding\, he’s more determined than ever to tell his story in his own voice.

SUMMARY:Adam Ezra Group at Wonder Bar
DESCRIPTION:welcome to adam ezra group\n\n\n\n\n\nHe takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the country…\nHis band and nonprofit organization RallySound host a free festival every summer that raised $151\,000 for homeless veterans in 2024…\nHe live-streamed for 500 nights in a row during the pandemic…\nThey co-produced an album with 163 fans… \n\nIf you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet\, these are just a few examples to help you understand how this underground\, Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere\, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other\, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast.   \nAdam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate\, nothing has ever just “popped” for this folk musician\, activist.  Without resources\, connections\, or any kind of clue how the music world works\, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years ago.  When music venues wouldn’t hire him\, he played bars\, bookstores\, fields\, and parking lots\, often raising money for causes he cared about; a practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound.   \n“We’d play 5 hours a night\,” Adam reminisces\, “more often than not\, in danger of outnumbering the audiences we were playing for…” \nSo how did this band operating so far outside the traditional music world come to win New England Music Award’s “Americana Act of the Year” in 2023?  What could have happened to inspire John Oates to call Adam and invite him to begin a songwriting friendship that would lead to John producing their latest release and co-write\, “Hold Each Other Now”?  What happened to catch the attention of The Wallflowers\, who recently invited AEG to join them on their spring tour\, or SPIN Magazine who recently proclaimed\, “This Independent Underground Folk Band Is Blowing Up Without Selling Out”?  \nIf you ask Adam\, he’ll tell you: \n“One person at a time\, over many years and thousands of shows\, decided to turn their heads to listen.  One person at a time decided to share our music with folks they care about.  That’s always been our story.  It’s no fairytale\, but it sure makes me proud and humbled when I look out from the stage to watch theaters full of people singing along to our music.” \nThese days you’ll find Adam and his bandmates\, Corinna Smith (Fiddle)\, Poche Ponce (Bass)\, and Alex Martin (Percussion)\, constantly out on the road.  If you look at their tour schedule now\, you can buy tickets to see them at festivals\, rock venues\, and theaters around the country\, but you will also see their tour continuously peppered with activism and grassroots events; a testament to an artist who will never forget where he came from\, and whose mission is about much more than music.

SUMMARY:Ripe w/ Andy Suzuku & The Method at Asbury Lanes
DESCRIPTION:Ripe’s new album Bright Blues has an anthemic feel. It is a collection of 12 songs full of sleek grooves and bold melodies that the Alternative-Pop quartet put together to help ride out tough times. \nThe members of Ripe have never felt more assured about the band or their music. Collectively and personally\, Ripe has weathered a mountain of adversity over the past few years\, and from those struggles has arisen their best art yet. Bright Blues\, Ripe’s sophomore album\, is enjoying big excitement at radio\, with the new single “Settling” hitting top 15 at AAA and top 25 at ALT with over 16K+ radio spins garnering 15+million impressions and being featured as Alt Nation’s critical cut artist. \n“The wildest thing for me is that the record simultaneously sounds like it has the scars of everything we’ve been through and also that it doesn’t — it’s joyful music\, which is very exciting given that it was made in the middle of getting hit in the stomach\,” says singer Robbie Wulfsohn\, who came together with guitarist Jon Becker\, drummer Sampson Hellerman\, and trombonist Calvin Barthel while they were all studying at Berklee College of Music. \nRipe is taking Bright Blues on the road\, with a nationwide headline tour that begins shortly after the album’s March 10th\, 2023 release date. The tour will hit prestigious venues such as MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston\, Terminal 5 in New York City and The Fillmore in San Francisco. \nEven before the pandemic\, Ripe was on the cusp of something new. The band began drawing acclaim from the likes of the Boston Globe\, Huffington Post and WXPN with a dance-ready vibe on EPs Produce The Juice and Hey Hello. Ripe built on that sound and folded in a touch of R&B on their first full-length\, Joy in the Wild Unknown. Their streams on Spotify surged past 65 million\, they conquered stages at festivals including Bonnaroo\, Firefly\, SweetWater and Bottlerock\, and they sold thousands of tickets across the US\, including sell outs at iconic venues like House of Blues Boston and Brooklyn Steel. Ripe was still ready to try a different approach for Bright Blues. The album would already be different in that it would be their first release after signing to indie powerhouse Glassnote Records. They started the creative process by calling in outside producer Paul Butler (St. Paul & the Broken Bones\, Michael Kiwanuka) and for the first time\, bringing in co-writers\, recording four songs that Ripe released as singles throughout 2020. \n“We thought\, how can we do something new?” Hellerman says. “Something that still has our sound and vibe at its core\, how can we expand our boundaries and reach more audiences while still staying true to what makes Ripe Ripe?” The answer was teaming up with Noah Conrad (BTS\, Niall Horan) and Ryan Linvill (Olivia Rodrigo\, Dermot Kennedy)\, classmates from Berklee who are up-and-comers in the world of pop songwriting and production. Together\, the band and its collaborators dialed in a buoyant sound on the hooky album opener “Get Over\,” where synths help flesh out a throwback pop sound. Ripe works a hot soul vein on “All or Nothing\,” where horns punctuate a snappy rhythm that powers smooth\, fully self-assured vocals. Woozy synths on “Paper Cups” help create a dream-like vibe accentuated with a subtle\, hypnotic melody. \nBringing new people into the fold\, even though they’re old friends\, was an exercise in trust that proved well worth it. “We used to just all get in a room and kind of hash it out\,” Becker says. With Bright Blues\, “It was only one or two of us at a time with Noah and Ryan\, so our individual voices got to shine more.” \nThe new approach also helped Ripe think of the band’s high-energy\, freewheeling stage show separately from the recording studio\, which they used more as an instrument in the making of Bright Blues. Wulfsohn chimes in\, “There are moments of improvisation on the record that feel like somebody was just going for it and hitting something really exciting. I’m biased\, but I think you hear every distinct voice across the record\, and I think the circumstances of the record absolutely leaked into the musical choices.” \nThe result is an album that shows the full scope of the band’s abilities as writers and performers. The live show has always been at the core of who Ripe is\, and now the recorded music can stand alongside it as an all-encompassing representation of whothe band is and where they are going. \nBright Blues also showed the members of Ripe that they can still surprise each other. “Each of us had moments while making this album that really resonated with us\, if not broke us open emotionally\,” Barthel says. “Having that experience coming from people who you know better than anybody else and trust so much is pretty mind blowing. It definitely left us all with a new level of inspiration and drive and belief in what we could all do.”

SUMMARY:Chalk Dinosaur / Underground Springhouse at Asbury Jams
DESCRIPTION:CHALK DINOSAUR – Chalk Dinosaur (Pittsburgh\, PA) features a fusion of electronic dance music\, funk and psychedelic rock. It has distinctive melodic themes coupled with a heavy rhythm section and augmented with synthesizers and electronic textures. The live shows are characterized by high energy and emotional diversity. \nChalk Dinosaur was founded in 2008 as the artist project of Pittsburgh music producer John O’Hallaron\, and is known for it’s colorfully diverse and prolific songwriting. Over the years\, Chalk Dinosaur has released 25 albums and EP’s\, ranging from indie and surf rock to psychedelic rock\, electronic dance music\, funk\, and jam. Some albums are instrumental and some are vocally centered. Some are solo recording projects\, while others are collaborative albums featuring the full band. \nLive performances take several forms. Chalk Dinosaur mainly performs as a duo and sometimes as a quartet with each form having a different repertoire. The 4-piece leans more funk and jam\, and the duo leans more towards electronic dance. Both incorporate the foundation of funky grooves and distinctive melodies. \nMembers of the live band include John O’Hallaron (guitar\, keys\, vocals\, electronics)\, Nick O’Hallaron (drums)\, Jon Henderson (guitar)\, and Michael Berger (bass). \nUNDERGROUND SPRINGHOUSE\n“More of the good\, less of the bad.” That’s the motto upon which Underground Springhouse have built their sound and style. Exploring reggae\, country\, and funk influences within a rock ‘n roll context\, Springhouse has crafted a genre-bending catalog that takes listeners from beaches to back roads with ear-worm hooks and head-bobbing grooves. \nTheir debut single\, “Joyfell” (2018)\, has caught the ears of listeners around the country\, galvanizing the band to become the touring and recording machine that they are today. Springhouse has since released a full length album\, “Underground Springhouse” (2021)\, and two EPs\, “Tom Foolery” (2019) and “I Recall” (2023)\, as well as a number of one-off singles. Their most recent EP\, “I Recall\,” features five new songs and showcases the band’s honing of their songwriting craft. On certain tracks the group explores newer influences like bluegrass and Americana\, while on others they expand on more familiar styles like reggae and funk. All the while\, the band stays true to their motto and their sound by including sing-along choruses and dance-worthy rhythms across the EP. \nThe band’s consistent recording output and dedicated touring schedule have helped grow their audience from a college town phenomenon into a frenetic mass of music lovers\, particularly in the Southeast and along the East Coast\, where Springhouse has headlined such venues as Athens’ Georgia Theatre\, DC’s 9:30 Club\, Nashville’s Exit/In\, Birmingham’s Avondale Brewing\, New York’s Brooklyn Bowl\, Asheville’s Salvage Station\, and Atlanta’s Terminal West. SUMMARY:BASIC w/s/g Dave Hill at Asbury Jams / North To Shore
DESCRIPTION:BASIC\, a mind-meld between Chris Forsyth\, his frequent running partner Douglas McCombs\, and Mikel Patrick Avery\, present complex and entrancing instrumental music\, recasting forgotten scraps of guitar history into a moving mosaic of strings\, skins and electronics. \nBack in the mid ’80s (a moment in music history as remote to us now as bebop was to us back then)\, there was an entire sub-genre spawned by prog-rock-gone-new-wave icons meeting up to make sounds\, their names reading like a panoply of druggy law firms: Manzanera & Bruford\, Fripp & Summers\, French/Frith/Kaiser/Thompson. Their records clogged pre-internet college radio playlists\, cut-out bins and public library shelves\, but served as a touchstone for heads seeking inspiration from deeper wells than FM rock radio (which was fixated\, then as now\, on the Eagles and Led Zeppelin). Far from being mere self-indulgences\, these “side projects” were\, at best\, outlets for exploration of then-novel technologies (looping\, drum programming\, sampling\, etc.) for creators otherwise stuck in ’70s projects moribund with fan expectations and music-biz balance sheets. \nOne such record is guitarist Robert Quine and drummer Fred Maher’s Basic\, an arachnidian weave of subtly shifting rhythm tracks and chiming guitar that\, true to its name\, was left largely untouched by Quine’s celebrated McLaughlin-through-a-cheese grater solos (a trait that did not please many critics at the time). Quine’s untimely passing has since awakened many to the joys hidden within his scant solo discography\, but more expansive ears were already tuned in\, including a few guitarists hungry for sounds outside of the second-hand pentatonic canon—among them\, Chris Forsyth and original (now departed) BASIC member Nick Millevoi. \nAccording to Forsyth\, “I’ve loved that record for 20-plus years and hardly ever met anyone that liked it. To me\, that is an incredibly personal\, beautiful\, one-of-a-kind record.” \nForsyth and Millevoi’s mutual love of Basic ran deep enough for the album to serve as a template for a run of low-key pandemic jam sessions (when Forsyth’s Solar Motel Band was sidelined from touring). Using an Alesis drum machine for rhythm tracks\, they forged a collaborative language from angular polyrhythms\, pulsing baritone-guitar lines\, and shimmering chorus-pedal washes (another stylistic nod\, this time to the glistening post-punk of the Durutti Column and numerous 4AD bands). \nAfter playing as a duo for a brief time\, the music demanded further complexity within the sonic substrate. Natural Information Society core member Mikel Patrick Avery was enlisted on drum kit—a setup that quickly morphed into a single drum\, bell\, and a bespoke electronics rig of his own creation. Upon the release of This Is BASIC in September 2024\, Nick departed the group and Tortoise co-founder Douglas McCombs joined in his place on Fender Bass VI. The trio quickly flowered into an improvisational swirl of disorienting electronics\, hypnotic throb\, and dense flanged-guitar harmonics: three unique voices spinning a complex conversation of textures and rhythms. \nThe name of the nascent trio was\, of course\, obvious: BASIC\, capitalized to distinguish themselves from the inspirational Quine/Maher text\, and to introduce connotations with another ’80s trope\, the obsolete programming language some of us learned back when you learned such things. BASIC\, more importantly\, denotes returning to one’s roots—in this case\, Philly living room jams tangential to bands\, arrangements\, and songs; loved LPs lost to history\, but not to the minds conceiving the music. To end with Mikel: “There’s universality without sacrificing identity or integrity. The music allows space for different minds to live within it.” Which\, after all\, is the most basic offering music has for anyone.

SUMMARY:Delicate Steve w/s/g Barney Cortez at Asbury Jams / North 2 Shore
DESCRIPTION:Steve Marion\, the critically acclaimed–and completely wordless–songwriter and guitarist known as Delicate Steve\, has unveiled a new album called Delicate Steve Sings. Is the album title a reference to the instantly recognizable “voice” of his guitar? Does he actually sing this time? Has he not been singing all along? That’s the crux of Sings—Marion is the rare guitarist where you can put on any of his records and know exactly who’s playing. In an indie rock landscape stuffed end-to-end with guitars and amplifiers\, nobody else sounds like this. \nThat unique voice has kept Steve busy in an unpredictable variety of settings. The sheer spread of his work outside his own records—collaborating with Miley Cyrus and Paul Simon\, playing in Amen Dunes and the Black Keys\, and being sampled by Kanye—doesn’t mean Steve’s a chameleon. It means he’s singular. \nOne night while on a trip to Greece\, Marion looked out over the sea while listening to Willie Nelson’s pop standards record Stardust\, a cosmic epiphany washing over him about what his next record could be. Delicate Steve Sings is a record centered on channeling iconic voices with his guitar. In doing so\, Marion is casting himself in the role of iconic singers like Willie who make standards their own. In the process\, he reveals just how singular (dare we say iconic) that voice is. The guitar sings these songs—smoothly\, sweetly\, boldly\, and on its own terms. \nRecorded with Jonathan Rado on bass\, Kosta Galanopolous on drums\, Renata Zeiguer providing strings\, and co-writer Elliot Bergman\, you can hear this team of exceptional musicians approach the album with the same smooth reverence you’d hear on something like Willie’s classic. Still\, there’s a requisite subversiveness to what Marion’s doing here—this isn’t a full-on standards album. He’s got original songs with titles that suggest they might be new recordings of classics. “I’ll Be There” is smooth like a lost Bill Withers track; “Easy for You” isn’t the Elvis song of the same name\, but there’s a hint of the king in there all the same. \nFrom the record’s opening track\, the mood of Delicate Steve Sings is immediately defined by the distinctive voice of Marion’s guitar. Going back to the feel of a classic and the writing of an original\, “Cherry” settles into a similar vibe as Al Green’s Call Me\, vocals and all. As the second track\, his take on the Emersons’ “Baby” solidifies his guitar-as-voice approach by offering his own wordless “yes oh baby.” It’s a faithful rendition\, cooing background vocals and all\, but the voice—that guitar tone—is definitively Steve’s. For Steve\, its inclusion bolstered his goal with the album: feeling over thinking. “Artists are very much overthinkers\, just by trade\,” he says. “But currently\, everything is so totally overthought. So really\, I was just resonating with these songs a lot and trying to avoid overthinking. I was listening to ‘Baby’ a lot\, and that was it: I was just feeling it.” \nAs the album rolls on\, he sprinkles in two more classics: The Beatles’ “Yesterday” and Otis Redding’s “These Arms of Mine.” Just as his overall aesthetic nods to the crooners\, his cover of “Yesterday” was more inspired by Sinatra’s version than McCartney’s; Marion’s positioning himself\, wryly\, as an icon putting his signature on a song embedded into nearly every brain on the planet. “You’re tapping into something universal and in the consciousness of pop music\,” Steve says—tacit permission for his guitar to drift into vocal expressions he’s internalized through years of close\, repeated listening. Just like all the great singers.

SUMMARY:LA LOM at North 2 Shore
DESCRIPTION:In the vibrant tapestry of Los Angeles’s music scene\, LA LOM stands out for its ability to seamlessly weave together the diverse genres and cultures of the city into its music. Short for The Los Angeles League of Musicians\, LA LOM is composed of LA natives Zac Sokolow (guitar)\, Jake Faulkner (bass)\, and Nicholas Baker (drums/percussion). \nThe roots of LA LOM reach back to 2019\, when the band was assembled to play five nights a week in the lobby of the historic Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. Initially tasked with providing background music for hotel patrons\, tourists\, and passersby off the street\, LA LOM soon began experimenting with a genre-transcending repertoire that reflects the diverse musical diaspora of Angelenos. \nLA LOM started out reimagining instrumental renditions of the soulful ballads from the 1950s and ’60s that they grew up listening to on LA’s oldies station\, K-EARTH 101\, evoking the laid-back aesthetic that defines the region\, and drawing inspiration from luminaries like Smokey Robinson\, Aaron Neville\, and Brenda and the Tabulations. \nTheir sonic palette expanded to encompass the romantic allure of classic Mexican Boleros and the Cumbia Sonidera woven into the very fabric of the city’s soundscape\, resonating through the streets from car stereos\, backyard parties\, and lively dance halls. LA LOM carved out a sound that blends all of these elements with the guitar-driven twang of Peruvian Chicha and Bakersfield Country. \nZac Sokolow’s musical lineage spans generations. He began his creative journey performing alongside his father\, a respected figure in LA’s bluegrass community\, whose family relocated from Buenos Aires to LA in the 1930s. Jake Faulkner comes from a family of Venice artists and met Zac at age 16. Zac and Jake honed their craft through years of collaboration in various bands within Southern California’s vibrant Rockabilly scene before eventually joining to form LA LOM. Nicholas Baker was steeped in Latin music from childhood by his grandmother\, who hailed from a musical family in Durango\, Mexico\, and gained fame as a DJ on a Spanish-language radio station in Tucson\, Arizona. He studied Latin percussion with renowned Nuyorican bassist and percussionist Roberto Miranda. \nLA LOM have quickly ascended to playing to thousands of people and have captured the attention of Beck\, Vampire Weekend and Zane Lowe. \nDoors 6:30pm\nShow 7:30pm
